Agriculture is a way of life—it's the smell of home and prosperity
One of the joys of living and working in Morgan County is the rich sense of community. Building lasting connections is easier when you know folks by name.
For generations, our wide open spaces have supported farming: livestock, sugar beets, corn, and wheat. Rich, earthy scents like freshly tilled soil, sun-dried hay bales, and the pure aromas of grass-fed cattle remind us of home. Rooted in that tradition, agriculture remains the backbone of our economy.
We know it’s not for everyone.
But a strong pioneer spirit has helped Morgan County bloom into a thriving community, one that passionately supports local businesses, thoughtful innovation, and constructive collaboration over runaway growth.
Will you find the 24/7 perks of a major metro here? Honestly, no. But you will get a lower cost of living, a slower pace, deep connections, and peaceful surroundings.
While we may not have endless acres for massive development, we offer real opportunities for small businesses seeking a quality of life that is, well… different. That’s why so many young adults - our “boomerangers” - choose to Return to Rural after experiencing life elsewhere.
